Varsta is one of the three stitches mentioned in the year book 2011 of the Swedish Södermanland's Local History Society.

This stitch is also one of the stitches mentioned in Hanna Martikainen's Master's Thesis (2015), from 14th-15th century Turku, Finland.

Hansen's notation OOO/UUOO F1

Varsta Stitch resembles Vendel Stitch except that in Varsta Stitch the third loop is not split with the needle like in Vendel Stitch.

On the Youtube channel of Norsk Folkemuseum there is an old video from 1943 (link; from 7:52 min onwards), which shows a woman nalbinding a milk sieve, in Indre Agder, South Norway. When the video is slowed down at 8:50 min, it looks like the stitch the woman is using is the same as this one (OOO/UUOO F1).
